Fitting Guide

Fitting in this order is what stops a harness twisting or loosening. It takes two minutes the first time and thirty seconds after that.

  1. Loosen all four sliders before the first fit.
  2. Put it on and clip both buckles.
  3. Tighten the neck straps first, then the chest strap, then the belly strap. Adjust both sides evenly or it will sit crooked and twist.
  4. Two fingers flat under every strap. Tighter rubs; looser twists and can slip.
  5. Lock check: after five minutes of walking, re-check the belly strap. Sliders settle on the first walk. If a slider creeps, fold the loose tail back through it.
  6. Front clip for training and busy paths. Back clip for the quiet stretch once the lead stays slack.
  7. Take it off at home. It's walking gear, not a chew toy.

If it twists

Twisting almost always means the harness is a size too big or the two sides aren't tightened evenly. Fit by chest, adjust both sides, two fingers under each strap. Deep-chested dogs (greyhounds, whippets): expect the neck straps at their loosest and check the body-type notes in the size guide.

If a strap loosens

Do the five-minute re-check above. If a strap keeps slipping after that, that's a fault. Email wagverapro@gmail.com and we'll replace it.

Which lead on which clip

Use a fixed-length lead on the front clip for the first ten walks: the redirection is immediate. The Matching Classic Lead is sold separately and can be added from the cart. Never a retractable or stretchy lead on the front clip; the constant tension defeats the redirect.

Still unsure? Email wagverapro@gmail.com a photo of your dog from the side and we'll tell you what to adjust. We reply within 1–2 business days.
